Forward: “Of Wheat and Weeds”
Once upon a time, I was a weed when the world hungered for wheat. I am here to tell you though, even a weed can provide for the empty and in ways wheat cannot. For in a weed lies all the wisdom found in becoming the wheat, which feeds the world.
The words in this and other conveyances, these seeds are to nourish you, not merely those who hunger now. The harvest that feeds us is from seeds sown long ago, as will be the harvest that feeds you, from the seeds bestrewn here.
To get started in experiencing these writings, we need to set a perspective in which to view these messages. I use various descriptive words to convey ideas and concepts. Some of these words are religiously bound, some scientific, but mostly spiritual. Yes, this book was written from the spiritual view of one who resided within the "western" culture, here in the United States. No, you will not find some strict religious doctrine or politics here. What you will witness in these writings is the journaling of my enlightenment. I do not cover my entire life before particular life-altering events, but suffice it to say, I was lost. Like most Americans and many people around the world, I was consumed by the world's demands and lures, which are more than we recognize. I was blind, and this is the story of regaining myself and my spiritual vision. As you will see, I use photographs and memes to more fully convey the wisdom I was given.
I write this not from a greater-than-thou point of view, but as a trail of bread crumbs so those who choose to seek more than the life in front of them, may find their way. In these individual notes, are answers, my answers to questions I had asked, or will. These are not your answers but are clues as to how you should proceed in your quest to you. While some of these writings will resonate with you, some will not, which is how it should be. As you travel my journey with me, you will start to find your answers, which are seen only by your unique perspective. Your answers, though similar to some of mine, are yours, as only you can understand them from the collection of your experiences. There is a precious reason you must find your answers and not those of others, and that is, so you arrive at your authentic self and not a self defined by others. You are the most unique part of the universe, of the All, of God that has ever been imagined, and so are the answers to your questions, some of which you have asked and some you have yet to ask.
First and foremost, you are more than what you see in the mirror, more than what others see with their eyes. What you and they see, is merely a vessel, a conduit from the true you, to the you they and you relate to. You are the most preciously unique soul who has ever existed. From you, all others see through your ever-changing perspective. Through you, we are afforded the chance to experience a part of the universe we are not. You are more important than anyone has ever told you, for you, bring the rest of us to the whole, and in that, we and God are complete. Sometimes I will refer to us, you and me, people, as people, energy, as soul, spirit and even God. Again, bear with me, for these are merely words used to bring attention to what and who you are, are not, and to instill the idea that you are more than a face in the mirror or the labels laid upon you.
As my story of me unfolds, so do my messages to you. As in life, I needed to learn to crawl and walk before I could run. Our lives are generally a progression, from easier to harder, from weak to strong, from blindness to vision. I will also mention at this point, that as virtual sponges, we take in all that we experience, the good and evil, right and the wrong, and everything in between. While all these experiences help us to find balance in our lives, rarely are we taught how to walk this tightrope, so we fall off time and time again. The sad fact is, this world convinces us that we are good or we are bad, right or wrong, a success or a failure, that we are well or sick, or this or that. Once we have listened to and accepted these labels as being who we are, our journeys take on a life of their own, now dictating our lives to us, instead of the other way around. In this, ego finds its niche in its supposed protection of us, and even worse, we start living from the edicts of ego instead of the wisdom and benevolence of spirit. I say this to you, for in your quest to you, you will find that you are not learning, but unlearning.
You are the most precious gold ever conceived, but for you to see this gold, you must shed the chaff and the lies you have accepted as you. Doing this is not easy, and if you are genuinely on the path to your authentic you, you will find suffering as you find joy. In the seeing of your light, you will see your darkness, and you and you alone will have to acknowledge this darkness, and you will begin to understand and live your light. This mission to you is straightforward, but it is not easy, nor for those who will not let go of their egotistical view of themselves. This battle you are entering, is the fight of all fights, for it is you, fighting you, for you. There is no one to blame here, for you, the good-the-bad-and-the-ugly are the same, and in your acceptance of this sameness, you will claim your balance.
There are many words used in various philosophies, in different religions, and scientific disciplines. Do not bind yourself to the jargon, the metaphors, the parables and such, for in doing so, you will lose yourself in the whys, and what ifs. Do not lose sight of your destination, of you, because of poor analogies and words. Whatever you call yourself, whatever name you use for an overall consciousness, good or evil, right or wrong, know that these words are just labels used to convey ideas and concepts to different audiences. There is no right or wrong in this matter, just preference.
I hope each of you, atheist, jew and gentile, muslim and infidel, presidents, kings, and paupers, thieves, rapists, murderers, black - white, rich or poor, wheat or weed - come to know that you are the most beautiful part of God, ever imagined. I say this, do not listen to others or the world. Listen to you, for only in you, will you find answers to your questions. Only through you, will you find your wholeness, your place
in the universe and your connection with God.
Thank you for reading this preface of my journey to me and God. I hope my journal to me helps you leave behind all that you have been falsely taught, all the names you have been called and the baggage you carry. Blessed are we who have you in our lives and blessed are you for allowing us into yours. Believe it or not, you are enough. You are loved, and you are love. Put down your anger, and despair and pick up your joy, for it awaits your acceptance of you. ~ Mark
